Looking back at the first nine months or so for Playstation VR, we’ve seen Driveclub and Dirt Rally both get VR updates but haven’t really seen racers that were built from the ground up for virtual reality. VR Karts by developer Viewpoint adds a fresh new alternative to the lineup, though so far it’s only available in Europe. Here's hoping that VR support is added for other platforms in the future. When you consider how well VR could work for racing games, it’s surprising to see how few racing games have come out for Playstation VR so far. There's also a 2D non-virtual trailer to accompany the announcement that you can check out below. Just like with real life co-driving, timing and accuracy are vital in order for you to complete the stage in the best time possible. This new feature allows a second player to become engrossed in the action as they use the buttons and touchpad to give the pace note calls to the driver from the social screen.

The VR compatibility upgrade will be available as a standalone DLC Add-On for existing players at AUD $19.45 on the PlayStation® Store, and will let you drive in fully immersive VR throughout the entire game supporting every car, every route and every discipline within DiRT Rally.Īs well as allowing you to drive any of the stunning rally, rallycross and hill climb cars in full VR, the update to DiRT Rally will add a completely new Co-Driver Mode to the rally sections of the game.

Not limited to any one section of the game, DiRT Rally's PSVR support will be for the entire experience, making this an update that VR racing fans should definitely keep an eye out for.

One of the best console racers of 2016 is about to be given the virtual treatment with a new update coming to the PlayStation 4 version that will add PlayStation VR support.
